The name is a homage to one of climbing's all-time greats, Lynn Hill. Back in the early 1990's a French climber, Jean-Baptiste Tribout, publicly said 'No woman will ever climb 8b+'. In response, Lynn Hill flew to France from the States and climbed one of Tribout's own 8b+ routes, in less attempts than it took him in the first place. That route was called Masse Critique.
